Covered Bridge Bluegrass Festival
Offers Families Fun Escape to the Past
MARYSVILLE, OHIO – The 10th Annual Covered Bridge Bluegrass Festival, Sept. 22-24, offers a fun, family-friendly escape to the beautiful countryside of Union County – only 40 minutes from downtown Columbus and 25 minutes from Dublin.
The Pottersburg Bridge, one of Union County’s preserved covered bridges of the 1860s and 1870s, will take center stage for the festival, serving as:
The concert venue for nine bands, such as progressive bluegrass group Mad River Railroad and the Sugar Creek Band, brothers and sisters who bring youthful energy to traditional bluegrass
The setting for a picnic, a pancake breakfast, and an elegant, reservation-only, local foods dinner, served at sunset
The centerpiece of an array of other activities for the whole family – kids’ games, horse-drawn wagon rides, farm animals, a 5K run and 2-mile walk, food trucks, art classes, an antique and vintage market, bus tours of the county’s historic bridges, a community church service, and an 1860s-style baseball game featuring the Ohio Village Muffins of Ohio History Connection.
Offered by the Union County Convention and Visitors Bureau, the festival is supported in part by the Ohio Arts Council. The Pottersburg covered bridge is located at 17141 Inskeep-Cratty Road, North Lewisburg.
“The Covered Bridge Bluegrass Festival is quite a gem of an experience that you won’t find anywhere else,” says Mardy Hanlon-Stolte, chairperson of the festival. “We welcome visitors to join us for a special weekend of delicious comfort food, foot-tapping music and charming arts and crafts, all set in quaint, relaxing surroundings.”
Festival admission is $5, and free for children 12 and under. For more details, visit the festival website, coveredbridgefestival.com, or call the Union County CVB, 937-642-6279.
