2020 Grant Program


The Union County Convention & Visitors Bureau (CVB) provides grants to assist with special events and projects that generate overnight guests and increase tourism, while enhancing the visitor’s experience in Union County. Union County Commissioners allocate a percentage of lodging tax revenue for the development, enhancement or expansion of visitor events and attractions through a tourism development grant fund.


Grants will be awarded annually in support of events and initiatives. Grant forms must be completed and submitted online.


Grant Eligibility

  • The event must take place within the Union County limits.

  • Grant is available to any organization seeking to produce or promote an event or program that has the potential to create a positive image in the Union County area.

  • In order to be considered for funding, all activities must be open to the general public or have non-exclusive membership.

  • All organizations/events must comply with all local and state regulations regarding permits and handicap accommodations. 

  • Preference will be given to non-profit organizations.

  • No more than one grant application may be submitted by any one organization, per calendar year.

  • Grant funds are limited. Applications must be fully completed for consideration.



Consideration will be given to organizations who answer positively to the following:

  • Will the event or program serve a substantial number of overnight visitors?

  • Is there a solid plan to fund the project, ongoing operating costs and maintenance?

  • Is there a sustainable business plan, including marketing details?

  • Will it provide a positive economic impact on the community?

  • Will it contribute to our ability to attract visitors and improve overall tourism assets in the Union County area?

  • Will this project be covered by media, and/or will the Union County CVB be publicly recognized for participation or support?


Obligations of Grant Recipients

If application is approved, the grantee organization must agree to:

  • Must submit event into the events calendar on

  • Include the CVB logo and website ( on all event promotions and press releases.

  • Provide exhibit space at the event for CVB promotional use.

  • Provide tickets to the event for CVB board, staff, volunteer and/or promotional use. The number of tickets will be determined based on the length of the event, CVB staffing needs onsite at event, and/or promotional opportunities available, as a result of the event (i.e. travel writer, social media influencer, etc. interest).

  • Work cooperatively with the CVB staff and meeting/group organizers, if the grantee event/offering creates an opportunity to showcase Union County to tours, reunions, meetings or affinity groups.

  • Provide high-resolution, visitor-oriented images of the event for CVB promotional use (pre-event, if available, post event is mandatory).

  • Submit a post-event report within 60 days of the end of the event outlining attendance, proof of logo usage on marketing and promotional materials, proof of room night generation, if applicable and visitor demographic information, if available. 


Funding May be Used for the Following:

  • Marketing and advertising of the event. Including, but not limited to:

    • Event brochures, flyers and posters

    • Website and Social Media advertising

    • Print ads (Newspaper, magazine, newsletter, etc.)

    • Radio spots

    • Television

    • Billboards

    • Postage and mailing fees

    • Other expenses as approved by the CVB

  • New or expanded exhibitions or events

  • Signage (Wayfinding, On-site Attraction, Visitor Information Kiosk)

  • Upgrades, enhancements, expansions to existing facilities


Application Deadlines

Applications are due at a minimum of 30 days prior to the start of the event.


Notice of Approval

Within 15 business days of the receipt of a successful application.
